Residency Application Timeline Overview

    Prepare: Jan - June

    January - June

    • Preparation  for US Residency may start as soon as possible
    • Planning early is crucial for overcoming schedule changes and unexpected delays


    Portals and IDs Involved in Residency Application and Match

    • MyERAS: Official Residency Application Portal 
    • AAMC ID: Unique Residency Application Identification Number 
    • NRMP ID: Uniques Residency Match Identification Number 


    MyERAS Application Submission

    • Each Residency Program has an individualized application submission date
    • It is highly encouraged to have all application documents completed and certified by the last week of September 

    *Some programs do accept applications in October or November


    Details below are for Application Season from June to March

    For example: Match 2024 Application Season is from June 2023 to March 2024

    US Clinical Experience and Research

    US Clinical Experience  

    • For Letter of Recommendation, plan USCE dates that allow letters to be uploaded by Application submission in September *
    • USCE may be obtained throughout the Application season (up to February of Match year)

    *For USCE in October - Feb of Match year: USCE is helpful but LORs may be used for SOAP in March

    *LOR validation may require 1-2 weeks once the letter is uploaded in MyERAS plan ahead for delays 


    Research

    • Research work is included in MyERAS according to the status at time of submission 
    • Articles or abstracts may not be submitted as published work if they are not officially published by application submission
